Bulletin #102
This concept involves contemplating the ways in which we can leave behind negative influences, habits, and thoughts that hinder our spiritual, emotional, and moral growth. In order to fully move away the negativity in our lives, we must first understand what constitutes darkness in my life? Is it a harmful behavior, a toxic relationship, or a negative thought pattern, and most importantly how do you feel when you are in the midst of this darkness? How does it affect your well-being, relationship and your spiritual life?
Therefore, we must regularly examine our thoughts, actions, and motivations to identify areas where darkness may be creeping in. There are some practical things we can do to circumvent these thoughts; such as keeping a journal to document these reflections and track your progress. Turning to the Bible, prayer, or meditation for guidance and support in moving away from darkness. The most important thing we can do to move away from darkness in our lives is to identify and set boundaries to protect yourself from sources of darkness, whether they are people, environments, or habits. It is important to replace negative habits with positive ones that foster growth and well-being. Reflect on scriptures and teachings that emphasize moving away from darkness and towards light, such as John 8:12 where Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
This is an ongoing journey of self-discovery, growth, and spiritual development. It involves conscious efforts to identify and eliminate sources of darkness, while embracing practices and beliefs that foster light and positivity.
