Giving yourself to God is an act of surrender, trust, and devotion. It involves offering the deepest parts of yourself—your thoughts, emotions, desires, and will—to God, seeking to align your life with His purpose. Giving to God in this sense doesn’t mean give portions of yourself to Him. Rather, just like the story of the widow in the Bible, give everything that you have to Him. Giving yourself to God means relinquishing control over your life, your plans, and your future. It’s a conscious choice to trust that God knows what is best for you, even when circumstances are challenging or uncertain. This act of surrender isn’t passive but a bold declaration of faith. It’s saying, “God, I trust that You are good, even when I don’t understand what’s happening.” When you give your heart to God, you’re inviting Him to change you from the inside out. It’s a process of transformation, where your values, priorities, and desires begin to reflect God’s love, compassion, and holiness. This transformation isn’t instantaneous; it’s a journey of continually turning to God and allowing Him to mold you into the person He created you to be. And the core of giving your heart to God is love—receiving His unconditional love and responding by loving Him and others. This love leads to selflessness, service, and compassion. It means treating others with the same grace and mercy that God shows to you. When your heart is given to God, His love flows through you, touching the lives of those around you. Finally, giving yourself to God is an act of trust in His faithfulness. It’s a recognition that even in your weakest moments, God remains constant. When you feel lost, His guidance is sure. When you feel burdened, His strength sustains you. It’s the faith that no matter what happens, God is always working for your good. In this journey, challenges will arise, and sometimes it may feel difficult to fully surrender. Yet, in those moments, remember that God is patient, and His love for you is steadfast. Giving your heart to God is a daily practice, a continual turning toward Him, knowing that as you do, He draws you closer into His grace and peace. Rev. Fr. Movses Shannakian |
